It is obtained through the Lord of Hatred campaign rather than being available immediately, so players must progress deep into the story before accessing it. Once unlocked, the Cube can become an important part of managing Diablo 4 Items, particularly when you begin experimenting with affixes, rerolls, upgrades, and transmutations.
Progress Through Lord of Hatred
Players receive the Horadric Cube through a campaign quest positioned close to the end of the Lord of Hatred storyline. This means there is no need to search for the Cube during the opening stages of the expansion.
Continue progressing through the main story and complete the required quest when it becomes available. After finishing it, the Cube can be accessed in Skovos, giving you a permanent crafting utility for future activities.
Find the Cube in Skovos
After completing the necessary quest, visit Temis in Skovos. The Horadric Cube is placed on a pedestal close to the center of the main hub’s craftsman’s area.
The location is convenient because you can access the Cube while handling other crafting and equipment-related tasks. Once you know where it is, returning to it becomes a simple part of your normal gear-management routine.
Select Recipes or Add Materials
The Cube offers two basic ways to craft. You can choose a recipe from the available list, or you can place the necessary ingredients into the Cube’s slots yourself.
Each recipe specifies the equipment and materials required. Some recipes accept optional ingredients that can affect the crafting process, while others make certain materials mandatory. Paying attention to these distinctions can prevent you from wasting valuable resources.
Gather Primordial Dust
Primordial Dust is central to many Horadric Cube recipes. Different crafting functions require different forms of the material, including Raw, Coarse, Refined, Volatile, Attuned, Enhanced, and Pure Primordial Dust.
These materials can drop randomly, but players can improve their chances of receiving useful supplies by completing activities that commonly reward them. Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons are particularly worthwhile when you are building a crafting-material reserve.
Modify Equipment Affixes
One of the Cube’s key functions is modifying equipment. Add Affix allows a non-Unique item to receive an additional affix. The recipe requires Coarse Primordial Dust and Raw Primordial Dust, while a Tuning Prism can be included optionally.
Remove Affix works on Magic and Rare items. It requires Refined Primordial Dust, 15 Raw Primordial Dust, and a Tuning Prism. These functions make the Cube useful when you are trying to improve equipment without immediately replacing it.
Use Reroll Functions Carefully
Chaotic Reroll and Focused Reroll both work with Magic, Rare, and Legendary items. Each requires Refined Primordial Dust and 15 Raw Primordial Dust.
Focused Reroll has a stricter requirement because it needs a Tuning Prism. Chaotic Reroll allows the Prism to remain optional. Knowing this difference is useful when your material supply is limited.
Transform Powerful Gear
The Transfigure Item recipe works with Legendary, Unique, and Mythic items and requires Volatile Primordial Dust. A Tuning Prism may be added optionally.
Ancestral Unique items can also have their Unique Power rerolled using Attuned Primordial Dust. The recipe accepts an optional Tuning Prism, giving players another method for refining valuable equipment.
Upgrade and Recycle
The Cube can convert several categories of equipment. Three items of the same type can be combined through 3-to-1 Transmutation, while three copies of the same Unique can be recycled.
Common equipment can be upgraded to Unique using Enhanced Primordial Dust and Raw Primordial Dust. Rare equipment can be upgraded to Legendary with Pure Primordial Dust and Raw Primordial Dust, with a Tuning Prism available as an optional ingredient.
Explore Charm Recipes
Charm customization is another part of the Cube’s recipe system. A Set Charm can be rerolled using 25 Raw Primordial Dust and 50 Infused Horadric Resin.
The Unique Charm recipe is more demanding. It requires an Ancestral Unique Item, three Unique Charms, Enhanced Primordial Essence, 50 Raw Primordial Dust, and 100 Infused Horadric Resin. This makes it something players will likely work toward rather than use immediately.
Combine Surplus Equipment
Amalgamation allows five items sharing the same type and rarity to be combined. This can be particularly useful when your inventory contains multiple pieces of equipment that no longer serve a purpose.
Instead of allowing duplicate gear to accumulate indefinitely, players can use the Cube to turn excess materials and equipment into opportunities for further crafting.
Build a Reliable Crafting Routine
The Horadric Cube becomes more valuable as your character accumulates better equipment and larger quantities of crafting materials. Running Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons can help maintain the Primordial Dust needed for its recipes.
After unlocking it through the Lord of Hatred campaign, make a habit of checking the Cube before discarding potentially useful equipment. Its combination of rerolling, upgrading, recycling, and transmutation gives players more control over their long-term progression.
